Use the Virginia Department of Elections Citizen Portal to register, verify your status, update your address, request an absentee ballot, or locate your polling place.

Early in-person voting for the November 3, 2026 general election runs from Friday, September 18 through Saturday, October 31.

EARLY-VOTING HOURS
Monday–Friday: 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Saturday, October 24 and Saturday, October 31: 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Sunday, October 18 and Sunday, October 25: noon–5:00 p.m.
No excuse or advance application is required to vote early in person. Provide your name and address and bring an acceptable ID; a voter without acceptable identification may sign an ID Confirmation Statement. Accessible and curbside voting are available upon request.
HOW TO REQUEST AN ABSENTEE BALLOT BY MAIL
Apply online through the Virginia Citizen Portal at https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation, or request an application from the Frederick County Office of Elections at (540) 665-5660. A completed paper application must be signed and may be mailed to 343 Sunnyside Plaza Drive, Winchester, VA 22603; faxed to (540) 665-8976; or emailed as a scanned attachment to fcvotes@co.frederick.va.us.
The Registrar must receive the application by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, for a ballot to be mailed.
HOW TO RETURN A COMPLETED ABSENTEE BALLOT
Follow every instruction included with the ballot. A completed ballot may be delivered to the Registrar’s Office or its ballot drop box during posted hours and must be received by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. A ballot returned by mail must be postmarked on or before November 3 and received by the Registrar by noon on the third day after the election. Apply and return the ballot early whenever possible.

Virginia polling places are open from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Confirm your assigned polling place before traveling. Frederick County is organized into six magisterial districts and 29 polling places.
LOCAL BALLOT LABELS AND ENDORSEMENTS
Some local contests may appear without party labels on the ballot. FCRC will clearly distinguish official ballot labeling from any formally verified committee endorsement or support.
HOW REPUBLICAN NOMINATIONS WORK
The nomination method may be a state-run primary, party canvass, mass meeting, or convention. FCRC will identify the method for each contest because eligibility, filing rules, dates, and participation procedures depend on that choice.
Completed election pages will remain available through an archive instead of being deleted.
